Neil Peart's cathartic cross-country journey/journal by motorcycle; a BMW 1250 to be precise. After the death of his Wife and Daughter, Neil Peart takes off in search of his soul. It's a harrowing, lonely, and grim journey, Peart remains incredibly introspective as he rebuilds his sense of self through the simple pleasures of life, thousands of miles over the road, and eventually his return to music. I would recommend this to any musician, or any person who is dealing with loss. This could easily be great material or reading for a Human Development class. The universal appeal will resonate with all motorcyclists as he covers well over 50,000 miles zig-zagging across Canada and the United States.
As a fan of the band Rush and an avid motorcycle rider and long distance touring traveler who loves to write. I knew that this book would be something I would enjoy. I followed Neil's journey with a map book of my own enjoying when I realized that I had ridden some of those roads also. If you are not a motorcyclist you may find better reading elsewhere.

As an avid RUSH fan from the early 70s as well as a long distance motorcycle racer and MSF instructor, I found the book to be an insiteful view of a mans search for selfworth and redemption.Mr.Pearts journey both inside himself as well as on the road is a thaughtful insight into who and what we are and what makes us human. His book can be considered a metaphor as to why we continue on and why we chase that horizon that can never be reached. I highly recomend this book to anyone that has lost someone or something they cherished or are just trying to find thier place in this non compromizing world.
Big fan of the authors music liking his way of dealing with the tragedies that hit so close together in his lift have just start reading

This was a good condition, but a book that appears to have been read once. If you want one to put on the shelf to look at then pay the price for a new one or maybe even a hard cover copy... If you're looking for a great deal, look no further. I bought this as a Therapy Aid and am not done reading it. Thus far it's written in a very unique stlye as are all of Neil's writings. Everyone knows the story of Neil loosing his only Daughter ina tragic auto accident. I think she was 18. Then approx. 10 months later he lost his first Wife to Cancer. Now he had to choose to end his life or to find a way to deal with it. This was his healing road in which he rode his BMW Motorcycle aroung the North American Continent; racking up an unbelievable 55,000 miles in only 14 months. These are his thoughts as he drove down the Healing Road... For any Ruch fan it's a must. To read his thoughts from this long journey. This way the reason that "Rush" had taken five years off together as a Band. They knew the need for Neil to take as long as it takes. Enjoy, Bill D. Wisconsin.Read full review
